The UIB is a 3 try board and is microprocessor controlled. The replaceable fuse protects the board from short circuits on the NC and valve terminals. A handy diagnostics LED glows green when power is applied to the board and turns red when the board activates the gas valve
The boards also have very good surge protection and tolerance to ripple voltage from Battery charger type converters
